Committee Charge

The Committee on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (CDEI) provides ideas and strategies that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in relation to establishing a welcoming community and a stronger sense of belonging and wellbeing; recruiting and retaining students, faculty, and staff of diverse identities and underrepresented communities; offering curricular, co-curricular and extracurricular courses, programs, and events; addressing DEI issues and reporting on the college climate; and communicating with other major academic units at MSU.

Directory of RCAH's DEI Pages

  1. Opportunities
    RCAH provides numerous DEI opportunities for students to research, examine, explore, and practice their purposes and passions in the arts and humanities through various social justice, civic and community engagement, and historical and cultural activities.

  2. Resources
    From Sister Circle, emergency funding, and Faculty Excellence Advocates to the MSU Center for Survivors, the Coalition of Racial and Ethnic Minorities, and more than 230 student organizations devoted to diversity and inclusion, RCAH and MSU have numerous supports, opportunities, and advocates working every day on improving diversity, equity, and inclusion.

  3. Initiatives 
    The CDEI committee made a series of ambitious and important recommendations in the summer of 2020.

  4. RCAH/MSU DEI-related Policies
    RCAH follows all MSU Policies to ensure a safe, diverse, equitable and inclusive learning, living and working environment, including the following DEI related policies.

  5. Reporting
    The RCAH Committee on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion has begun work on an RCAH DEI reporting system that will allow the college to identify and respond to institutional and college community policies, practices, cultural norms and behaviors that work towards or against our commitment to a safe, diverse, equitable and inclusive college environment.

  6. News and Current Events
    RCAH faculty, staff, and students regularly develop and present programming related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

DEI Definitions

  • Diversity – a collection of differences among people who represent different race, class, and gender identities, as well as abilities, spiritualties, political affiliations, ideologies, and more
  • Equity – access to opportunities and resources for professional and personal development and overall health and wellbeing
  • Inclusion – the power and influence to make decisions that contribute to full participation in advancing the life and operation of the institution
